Pedro Arrupe S.J. served as the 28th Superior General of the Society of Jesus from 1965 to 1983. He led the Jesuits in the implementation of the Second Vatican Council, putting a special focus on faith that does justice and preferential option for the poor as he did so. The process leading to his beatification began in July 2018.
